Best Après-Ski for Your Breckenridge Spring Break

February 1, 2021 / By: Julie Howsmon

Blue skies, back country bowls, groomed runs, and a plethora of events are among the laundry list of reasons people like to visit Breckenridge each year. The town offers activities and entertainment for all kinds of visitors and locals. Why wouldn’t you want to visit this spring?

After a full day of exercise and activity, odds are you will be hungry, thirsty or both! It can be difficult to navigate the abundant dining and drinking options that surround you: 79 restaurants with bars, to be exact. We all know that “hangry” decisions are often poor decisions.

Don’t fear—we’ve done the leg work for you! This Spring Break, don’t dilly dally on Main Street, head straight to the hottest spots, bartenders await!

Long before I moved to the town of Breckenridge, Mi Casa was always THE après-ski spot.

Located a hop, skip and jump from the base of Peak 9, Mi Casa’s famous margaritas flow stronger than the mighty Colorado River. A house or “casa” marg will run you a mere $5. After two, you may (or may not) need that third.

If margaritas don’t tickle your fancy, the friendly staff at Mi Casa will gladly bring you a Mexican brew of Tecate or Modelo for just $2!

Happy hour seating is a free for all on a first come, first served basis. Don’t let the possibility of a small wait deter you from Mi Casa’s happy hour—3 delicious tacos for $3, wings for $6, and a multitude of drink options (including pitchers) anywhere from $2.50 to $8.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Colorado if you didn’t visit at least one of the 347 breweries the state offers. A local staple since 1990, Breck Brewery’s snacks & suds are hard to beat. Grab half-priced beer inspired apps, Sunday through Thursday this spring break.

Agave wheat beer shrimp or the beer cheese fries with savory candied bacon are just two favorites from a plethora of appetizers to choose from.

This place brews a type of beer for just about every person and every palate. Bartenders won’t let you stay thirsty for long. Cans, bottles and over 10 beers on tap offer just about everything from a 4.4% Agave Wheat, 8.2% Double IPA and the occasional 13% Sexy Motor Oil barrel aged brew.

Draft brews are $2 off during the brewery’s daily happy hour from 3pm-6pm. Don’t forget to ask about the “rotating taps”: there just might be something special and unique for you to try out!

There are few things worse than going to a restaurant that doesn’t have food options you can eat. We love Après Handcrafted Libations because they let you bring food from home or any restaurant in town to enjoy with your drink!

This trendy drinking spot is family owned and operated and the warm atmosphere emits an energy that will keep you cozied up with your best friends into the evening. A watering hole with an extensive menu, happy hour wine and drafts will save you $2 per drink to spend on the next round!

For those underage or on the wagon, Après Handcrafted Libations always has fresh non-alcoholic ginger beer on tap and Colorado craft sodas.

Entertainment is of the old-fashioned kind – games, music, and great company! What better place to enjoy après-ski than a spot named Après?

When you just don’t feel like braving the gondola line quite yet but are thirsty for an après-drink, head to Robbie’s Tavern. Without a doubt, Robbie’s boasts the best après view. A slopeside facing outdoor patio provides a handful of tables for you and your friends to plop down and relax!

You might have already stopped by Robbie’s for a mid-ski lunch break, but when three o’clock rolls around, the deals are on! Take $2 off select appetizers — chips and salsa, savory pretzel knots, chicken fingers, and LOADED fries.

Discounted drinks are flowing with $2 off house wines, $1 off draft beers and well cocktails.

As you watch skiers take their final run in for the day, watch out for snow spray as they slide in to the base—Robbie’s Tavern is that close to the action. After a few drinks, that time of day will roll around when the sun begins to set behind glorious Peak 8. Hang tight for this spectacular display – Colorado is famous for vibrant sunsets over our majestic mountain peaks!
