Finally—the grass is green and the snow has melted! Don’t get me wrong, I love the winters here, but the summers are why I stay. From May-October Breckenridge opens the door for more activities than you can imagine. Whether you decide to take a scenic drive through our passes or have an exhilarating experience downhill mountain biking, Breckenridge has activities for everyone. Many say that “you will come for the winter but want stay for the summer” and we want to show you why!
Take a Glass Blowing Class at GatherHouse
A unique way to make a souvenir or gift to someone special, take a glass blowing class at the GatherHouse in Frisco. Regardless of your skill level, you will get the opportunity to get hands-on experience working with 2000-degree molten glass.
Cruise the Bike Path from Breckenridge to Frisco
The perfect way to explore Summit County is to take a scenic cruise down the Blue River Recpath—or the Recpath as locals call it. Aside from the gradual incline on the ride back to Breckenridge from Frisco, this makes for a perfect ride to take on with your family. I personally love to rollerblade along the flat parts of this path but you can also rent cruiser bikes from Alpine Sports which is conveniently located next to the Recpath!
Take a Class with BreckCreate
Breckenridge Creative Arts offers live music, drive in movies, and a variety of art classes and workshops for all age groups. If you are wanting to express your creative side or jam out to some live music, spending a day at the Creative Arts Center will have you walking away feeling fulfilled. Check out their calendar here to sign up and create a personal piece to take home with you.
Horseback Riding
Explore the Tenmile Range from a unique perspective. Breckenridge Stables offers horseback riding for those coming from all ability levels. Travel through the windy trails of the Rocky Mountains on a “wild-west” trail ride where you will experience river crossings, beaver ponds and spectacular views of the Continental Divide!
Experience Off-Roading by ATV or Jeep
With stunning views of alpine meadows, mountain ranges and wildflowers, this is one of the best ways to tour Colorado! Nova Guides is the high country’s premier operator of off-road vehicles and will take you through a historic and scenic tour by ATV, Side-by-Side, or Jeep.
Stand-Up Paddle Board at Maggie Pond or Lake Dillon
A fantastic way to cool off and spend time in nature is to stand-up paddle board. Maggie Pond is the perfect spot for new SUPers wanting to spend time on the water but remain in the heart of Breckenridge. Steps away from the pond, Charter Sports offers walk-up rentals where all gear is provided! For more experienced individuals, Lake Dillon offers miles of scenic views—but can be challenging from the waves of other boaters.
