Best Fall Activities in Breckenridge

By: Meckenzie Donnell 07/27/21

As we approach fall in Breckenridge, we start to get giddy. The days are still pleasant and the nights become cooler—and with it, the aspen leaves start to become a vibrant golden yellow. Locals love fall because the crowds die down and there are still so many activities to do in the high country. Here are some of the top activities to do this fall in Breckenridge.

Hiking

The cooler temps and beautiful foliage make hiking an ideal fall activity. The trails that everyone loves in the summer show off a new charm with their golden yellow colors. Remember to layer up for any changing weather conditions on a fall hike. To see our favorite fall foliage hikes, click here.

Mountain Biking

Fall is our favorite time to go mountain biking. The cooler weather is much more welcoming than the heat of summer and there are always fewer people on the trail. We love how different a trail looks as the colors change. For us, Aspen Alley is a must-do Breck mountain bike ride in fall as the leaves are changing colors.

Fly Fishing

Fall is one of the best times of the year to enjoy fly fishing. The scenery of bright yellow aspens, the soothing sounds of the river and the perfect temperatures equate to a beautiful adventure in Breckenridge. Our recommendation for the best place to fish would be the Upper Colorado River, north of Silverthorne about 37 miles.

Horseback Riding

Pass by babbling brooks and brilliant golden leaves as you take in the beauty of your surroundings by horseback. There are countless places in Breckenridge and the surrounding area to go horseback riding in the fall. We recommend Gore Range Outfitters in Silverthorne or Breckenridge Stables in Breck.

Golfing

Play a round of golf with your friends this fall at one of the 5 golf courses located throughout Summit County. Save $30 or more after Labor Day on a round of 18 at Breckenridge Golf Club. Grab a cold brew and enjoy a last few rounds of golf before winter hits.
