Join our mountain town celebrations this Independence Day! Breckenridge is a town that knows how to celebrate every occasion. This year, enjoy live music, a patriotic parade, family activities, athletic events and so much more.
July 4th Event Schedule
Independence Day 10k
7 a.m.–11 a.m.
Location: Downtown Breckenridge
This popular trail running race takes runners on a scenic 10k course directly from downtown Breckenridge. This race is not for the faint of heart! The course combines Breckenridge’s high altitude and 857 feet of vertical gain. You can sign up here and be done in time to watch the parade on Main Street.
Independence Day Parade & Firecracker 50
9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
Location: Main Street
The Independence Day Parade is kicked off by the Firecracker 50, a 50-mile mountain bike race that starts on Main Street and takes riders through over 4,000 feet of climbing on each lap. The parade floats then start at 10 a.m. on Main Street.

Surfin’ USA Activities
11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Location: Breckenridge Arts District’s Ridge Street Art Square
Join the Town of Breckenridge for an afternoon of free, family-friendly activities! Options include everything from live music and beach games to patriotic tie-dying and a chalk art contest. There will even be a dog fashion show which might paw-sibly be the cutest thing ever.
Reading of the Declaration of Independence
12 p.m.
Location: Blue River Plaza
For the history buffs, Colorado Ski and Snowboard Hall of Famer, C.J. Mueller, will give a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Red, White and Blue Firetruck Spray & Play
1 p.m.–2 p.m.
Location: 100 Block of Main Street
Take a cool down with the Red, White & Blue Fire Department on Main Street. Kids can participate for free!
National Repertory Orchestra: Fourth of July Spectacular
6 p.m.
Location: Riverwalk Center
The National Repertory Orchestra will perform patriotic pieces dedicated to those who have served and are currently in uniform. You can purchase tickets for this event here.

Plan Ahead
Fireworks
While a dazzling display of fireworks is a typical July 4th staple, you won’t find any in the high country. There is an indefinite ban on fireworks within the town limits of Breckenridge to align with safe environmental practices.
Parking & Transportation
Main Street will be closed for Independence Day celebrations. Avoid traffic in town and park at the free Airport Road or Ice Rink parking lots. From there, the totally free Breckenridge Free Ride bus system will take you to stops around town.
